Italian trade fair organizer Pitti Immagine is partnering with Japanese industry association Japan Fashion Week Organization to promote its men’s fashion show Pitti Uomo in the country.

The cooperation aims to strengthen the advertising measures for Pitti Uomo towards the Japanese media and the fashion industry and to develop special projects with a focus on men’s fashion and lifestyle, the cooperation partners announced last week.

“The Japanese fashion industry plays a central role for Italian fashion and therefore for Pitti Immagine’s trade fair activities in the clothing and textile sector,” said Raffaello Napoleone, Chief Executive Officer of Pitti Immagine. The trade fair organizer knows how useful the Pitti formats are for Japanese clothing suppliers and that the commitment for Japanese industry representatives must increase, especially in such a difficult economic and political situation.

Collaborations between the two parties have existed since 2012. Since then, more than 50 brands and projects have been presented as part of the Pitti Uomo platform, according to Hiroshi Komoda, Executive Director of the Japan Fashion Week Organization. These include Versus Tokyo, Sulvam, Yoshiokubo and the Tokyo Fashion Award.

“The Pitti Immagine Uomo was the efficient first step into the European market for many Japanese brands,” says Hiroshi Komoda. “With our partnership, we hope to strengthen both the Italian and Japanese fashion industries by taking care of the journalists who cover the event, and beyond that we hope to expand the event with buyers, exhibitors and events .”
