At the beginning of August, FC Schalke 04 made it clear that Jordan Larsson would be transferred from AIK Solna. A quite spectacular coup, as he is the son of Sweden’s legendary striker and former Barca star Henrik Larsson. The winger has now explained how he still wants to become a difference player for the royal blues.

So far, Larsson hasn’t been able to put his stamp on his new club’s game too much. He is still waiting for his starting eleven debut in the S04 jersey, in the Bundesliga he has come in twice as a substitute.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old is sure that he will still be important for the newcomer: “I would describe myself as a very fast player, I was faster than the others even as a child. That can help my Sturm colleagues a lot in particular,” he said Larsson in conversation with “Sport Bild”.

For the former Russia legionnaire, who played for Spartak Moscow in the Premier League between 2019 and 2022, it is clear that he still wants to be important for FC Schalke: “I want to help us all achieve our common goal. And “I want to develop as a player here. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world, I can still learn a lot here,” emphasized the Swede, who was born in the Netherlands.

Larsson played in Sweden under his father Henrik

Larsson made his debut at the age of 15 for the Swedish club Helsingborgs IF, where he played under his father Henrik. A time that the left foot himself describes as “rather difficult”: “During the day he was my coach – and in the evening my father. In some situations I had to remind myself that I was talking to my dad and not my coach,” recalled he himself.

Alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Larsson is the great Swedish striker legend of the last 30 years, made 107 appearances for the national team (37 goals).
