Leader 1. FC Magdeburg has stumbled again in the 3rd football league.
Due to the disappointing 1: 2 (0: 1) in eleven games in a row without a win in relegation candidate Viktoria Berlin, the former European Cup winner remained without a sense of achievement for the third time in the past four games.
In the race for the two direct promotion places, Magdeburg is only eight points ahead of Eintracht Braunschweig, third in the table, before their last nine matches. Berlin left the relegation zone with their first win of the year.
After Berlin’s lead by Jakob Lewald (19th), Soufian Benyamina’s goal (46th) immediately after the restart meant the decision in favor of the newly promoted team. Magdeburg’s connection goal by Kai Brünker (76th) came too late.
Viktoria advanced to the first non-relegation zone with his surprise win. In return, SC Verl fell back into the relegation zone.
