Production on the new “Tomb Raider” series has been paused after leading actress Sophie Turner suffered a “minor injury” on set Variety reported.
A Prime Video spokesperson confirmed the breach but did not provide any details. “Sophie Turner recently suffered a minor injury,” the spokesman said. “As a precautionary measure, production has been paused briefly to give her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”
British tabloid The Sun first reported the incident, claiming that Turner had aggravated a pre-existing back injury. Turner’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ROLLING STONE.
Lara Croft as a new role
Turner plays archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft in the new TV adaptation of the hit video game. Filming began in January and the series is still scheduled to be released in 2027. An exact start date has not yet been announced, and whether Turner’s injury will affect the premiere date is currently unclear.
In addition to Turner, the new Tomb Raider series stars Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein. “Fleabag” creator and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge developed the show and serves as co-showrunner along with Chad Hodge. It will be Waller-Bridge’s first major TV project since Fleabag and Killing Eve.
Turner’s current projects
Turner herself was last seen in Carlson Young’s thriller “Trust” and has already released several projects in 2026: the British crime series “Steal” and the horror film “The Dreadful”, in which she appeared in front of the camera with her former “Game of Thrones” colleague Kit Harington.
