Thijs Oosting leaves AZ and signs a long-term contract with Willem II

After four and a half years, Thijs Oosting leaves AZ. The all-rounder only occasionally appeared in the plans of trainer Pascal Jansen last season. Earlier today, Oosting signed a contract with Willem II until the summer of 2026.

Oosting made the step from FC Emmen to AZ in the summer of 2017. After a few seasons in the youth, the born Drent played most of his matches for Jong AZ. Last season, the Alkmaarders rented him out to RKC Waalwijk. With the necessary Eredivisie experience in his pocket, Oosting made his first official minutes for the main force of AZ this season. The counter eventually got stuck at five games. He scored once, that was in December against Randers FC for the Conference League.

Oosting’s contract would expire in a year and a half. It is not known how much Willem II pays for him. On Sunday Willem II will resume the competition at home against RKC Waalwijk with Oosting. And at that club his father Joseph Oosting is the head coach.
