Thick fog in Oslo: Poor visibility – women’s biathlon canceled

Heavy fog at the Biathlon World Cup in Olso

As of: February 29, 2024 2:21 p.m

Bad weather with thick fog led to a short-term postponement of the women’s individual event at the Biathlon World Cup in Oslo. The first race after the World Cup in Norway was postponed from Thursday to Friday.

DSV sports director Felix Bitterling said everything had been tried. “But the weather continued to get worse, especially at the shooting range. Therefore, the cancellation is the only right decision.”

It is not yet clear when exactly the 15 kilometer competition on Holmenkollen will take place. The men’s competition is also scheduled for Friday, but this could now be postponed. “The weather after 12 p.m. should be good. We’ll do the women first, then the men,” said race director Borut Nunar from the IBU world association to ZDF.

In addition to fog, temperatures and continuous rain are also causing problems in the Norwegian capital. “It will be better tomorrow, that’s what the weather service told us,” said Nunar.
