“They wanted to see Espanyol in the Second Division, and they have succeeded”, by Judit Bertran

this last week it has been devastating for the parakeets. We have experienced multiple emotions such as anger, anger, sadness and grief. But there’s one feeling that dwarfs all the others, the injustice.

arbitration robbery

I could be listing all questionable actions by arbitration and VAR, but I will focus on the last two, which have been a scandal and have ended up sentencing us. We all know that Griezmann’s goal didn’t go in and there’s no image that says otherwise, but then why give the goal as valid without proof? Nothing happens, it’s Espanyol.

Likewise, we all know that César Montes’s goal (which made it 1-3 at Mestalla) was valid, as well as that Valencia’s second goal began after a dubious foul on Braithwaite, but why are we going to review it? What’s up, nothing happens, it’s Espanyol. And so with thousands of actions that have condemned the club to relegation with a robbery that has gone down in history.

I am not going to affirm that it was the only reason for the descent, but they have contributed to finishing off the club to make sure that we were not saved even on the last day. Sometimes I would like to think about What would happen if that arbitration robbery had been with Barça or MadridIt would take seconds to sanction the referees to the refrigerator or to change the referee’s decisions (as happened with the card to Vinicius).

Bad defense and worst directive

Yes, it is true that in all analysis of the keys to the descent of our team a part of self-criticism must not be missing. Throughout the season the defense has lacked quality and has been a ‘strainer’. The central and forward parts were always one step ahead and the exit from the goal (which we did not have until the arrival of Pacheco) was agony, provoking on several occasions the whistles by the parrots in our own field.

The management has not helped much either, which has gone from disaster to catastrophe, evidencing its lack of professionalism. And the big problem we have as a club is the lack of a senior position that comes out to show its face for Espanyol, our colors and our people. A speech – which we do not know if it has been created by AI or looks like an announcement made with a teleprompter behind – by a president is of no use to us which is more than 10,000 kilometers that he should barely know (I sense) anything about parakeet customs. We deserve more. Much more.

culé supremacy

And the icing on the cake that just finished off the situation is the entire campaign of harassment by the followers of the beloved Barçawho have shown very clearly what are their “values” justifying them from rivalry. I think the Catalans still don’t quite understand that because a club is called “Espanyol” It does not imply anything political, that (oh, surprise) you can be a fan of a club even though it is in its worst moments (I would like to see how many would continue to be loyal fans of Barça if it were in our flesh), and that Being a league champion does not give you carte blanche to crush everywhere. Well, of course, you can have a debate strictly tied to rivalry, with all kinds of jokes and criticism, but hey, bilaterally. If one hammers, one also has to learn to receive the same type of criticism and have some more elaborate argument than simply saying “a Second”.

These days I have found many disoriented culés who have affirmed that we are blaming Barça for our relegation (for the victory they gave to Valladolid, our direct rival), or that they simply dedicate themselves to make us go to the second to cry.

It would be nice if they opened their eyes a little and broadened the horizon, that not everything is Barça-Espanyol, and in passing I would tell you that there is nothing wrong with accepting an objective reality such as the arbitration robbery that has greatly harmed our club (apart from the board of directors that we have). I’m sure that if Girona were in the same situation the first to they would cry they would be the ones of the Barça. But well, didn’t they want Espanyol in Second Division? They have achieved it. We’ll be back.
