“They shut everything down!” And so the frantic driver rushes past roadblocks and onto the parade route Abroad

Sidney Mecham, 42, went crazy when downtown Portland, Oregon, was closed for a major event in June. Police are now releasing shocking dashcam footage showing him speeding past roadblocks and causing panic in the city.

The big Portland Rose Festival turned out not to be a party for everyone due to traffic diversions for a flower parade. But Mecham (38) made it very angry, complete with white-hot outbursts of anger aimed at the workers standing at the barriers.

The man was so enraged that he drove his Chevy Avalanche pickup truck past several roadblocks along ramps and shoulders until he finally ended up on the Grand Floral Parade route. People fled in panic and pulled their children out of the way, but fortunately no one was injured. The dashcam footage lasts a total of half an hour.

Charges

Mecham was eventually caught and imprisoned. It is not clear what possessed him. The footage now released would be used to keep him in jail as he pleads not guilty to 38 different charges. This includes reckless driving, recklessly endangering others, disorderly conduct and an attempted escape.

According to news station ‘KGW8’, Mecham was also driving with a suspended license, had no insurance and was registered as a sex offender. In 1999 he was convicted of attempted rape and sodomy. In 2015, he was accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy and in 2016 he was also convicted of sexual abuse and sodomy.
