A teenager in Australia has been charged with illegal possession of weapons after police seized him a fully functional firearm that he had made at home using a 3D printer. The 18-year-old had this and other firearms in his home.

“This firearm, although it appears to be a toy, has the potential to cause serious harm in our community. It is deeply concerning that this young man has been able to make this firearm at home using a 3d printer and readily available materials“explained the detective in charge of the investigation to CNN.

The plastic gun is capable of firing 15 bullets with a simple pull of the trigger, according to CNN affiliate Nine News. The police claim that it took two days to make with some materials that cost 20 euros.

The young man has gone to court due to the danger posed by the use of this and other weapons. According to the Australian authorities posed a real danger to the communitywhich is why he will be judged quite harshly.
