These were the most popular sneakers of the year

As the New Year approaches, the resale platform StockX is taking a look back at the most popular products in the German streetwear and sneaker scene.

The resale platform published the most sought-after sneaker models and streetwear items from its German customers on Tuesday.

Nike Dunk Low

The ‘Nike Dunk Low’ tops the rankings of Germans’ most popular sneakers in 2023. The Dunk model from the US sportswear manufacturer has a timeless and gender-neutral design. Thanks to the wide range of colors, which range from simple black and white to numerous pastel shades, the shoe appeals to a wide target group.

Nike, Stüssy and The North Face

The German streetwear scene this year was dominated by two items of clothing that were among the five best-selling items in Germany on StockX. On the one hand, the ‘1996 Retro Nuptse’ from The North Face: The classic puffer jacket is particularly popular with the younger generations and is now an integral part of the streetwear scene. Thanks to its simple and gender-neutral look, the jacket appeals to a wide range of customers. The down filling and water-repellent outer material bring functionality, making it one of the most sought-after winter jackets.

A special one Hype sparked Nike’s collaboration with Californian streetwear label Stüssy. The ‘The Wide World Tribe’ T-shirt was particularly popular on the resale platform.

In 2023, StockX was able to set a new record in Germany: The ‘1985 Jordan 1 OG White Black’ went over the virtual counter for around 40,000 euros – a record bid for the resale platform, which “increases the passion for rare and historical sneakers among collectors” according to StockX.

Sneaker trends for 2024

Another shoe that attracted a lot of attention, particularly through social media, was the Samba model from German sporting goods provider Adidas AG. The ‘Samba’ is a classic indoor shoe that originally comes from handball. The suede flat shoe is particularly popular for its retro look, which is further enhanced by the contrasting rubber outsole.

According to StockX’s trend insights, the ‘Samba’ will continue to be very popular in the coming year and will dominate the rankings of the most popular sneaker models along with New Balance shoes.
