These streetwear products are the most counterfeited

On the occasion of “World Anti-Counterfeiting Day”, the US sneaker collectors exchange, StockX, has compiled which products have been counterfeited most frequently in the last twelve months and how the company is taking action against product piracy. In his Big Facts Report in June, the topic is “Verified Authentic” – i.e. the verified authenticity of traded products.

The most counterfeited products: Jordan sneakers

Unsurprisingly, sneakers are at the forefront of the most counterfeit products detected and rejected by StockX as part of its authentication program over the past 12 months. The first three places are taken by Jordan sneakers. First place was the Jordan 1 Retro High Dark Mocha, second place was the Jordan 1 High OG SP Fragment x Travis Scott, followed by the Jordan 1 Low Fragment x Travis Scott. The first-placed sneaker was last traded on the platform for 420 euros, the second-placed for at least 3034 euros.

When it comes to handbags, the second most important category on Stockx after sneakers, the Telfar brand is at the forefront, specifically the Telfar Shopping Bag Medium Black. It is followed by the Gucci GG Marmont Camera Bag Matelasse Small Black and the Prada Re-Edition 2005 Shoulder Bag Nylon Black. While the Telfar bag is currently being traded for 268 euros, you currently have to pay 1113 euros for the Gucci classic.

In StockX’s third category, Collectibles, the Kaws Brooklyn Museum Isolation Tower & Ankle Bracelet Jigsaw Puzzle Set was the most counterfeited. It was last sold on the platform for 161 euros. In second and third place are Kaw’s Holiday Limited Ceramic Plate (Set of 4) Blue/White and the Takashi Murakami x Doraemon Jigsaw Puzzle.

$60 million worth of fakes

The growing volume of counterfeits requires ever greater diligence and expertise from StockX, which now employs over 300 people in 11 authentication centers worldwide to check and authenticate products. About one million products are examined by the so-called authenticators every month. They have uncovered $60 million worth of fake sneakers since 2016.
