These roads in the center of Zoetermeer close for a while

To keep the city center attractive in the future for cyclists and pedestrians, the municipality will soon close two roads for motorists. It is still a test now, but there is a chance that the measures will apply in a while.

The municipality of Zoetermeer closes the roads on top of Monday 2 to Monday 30 June, between the JL van Rijweg and Nederlandlaan/Amsterdamstraat, and a track of Germanylaan.

Pivotal head of a few words

In the Vision inner city 2040 Among other things, it describes how the municipality wants to deal with the accessibility of the Zoetermeer city center in the coming years. She wants a center with more space for pedestrians and cyclists, and a safe living environment. With a trial, the municipality first tests certain measures before they gradually apply in the coming years. This gives them insight into the effects on traffic flows and accessibility.

Two traffic measures

The municipality will introduce the following two measures from Monday 2 June 7.00. These last until Monday 30 June 7.00 am:

Closing at the top between JL van Rijweg and Nederlandlaan/Amsterdamstraat.

Between the entry and exit of parking garage P2 (on top) and the pedestrian crossing, the road is closed with
fences. The diversion route is indicated on signs.

• The road remains accessible for cyclists and pedestrians. This will also stay that way in the future.
• Cars can reach P2 P2 on the top via the JL van Rijweg and via the Englandlaan.
• From Nederlandlaan/Amsterdamstraat you can drive it up to the closure.
• Parking garage P2 below remains accessible via the Nederlandlaan.

Temporary one -way traffic on Germanylaan

Motorists can only drive from Denmarklaan, across Germanylaan, to Luxembourglaan. Not the other way around, so this means that from Luxembourglaan you cannot drive to parking garage P9 (cinema and theater) or the parking garages at Supermarket Dirk and Hoogvliet.

• Driving to parking garage P9, Berlijnstraat and Theaterplein is only possible via the Denemarkenlaan.
• Riding is only possible towards the Luxembourglaan.
• The road remains accessible for cyclists and pedestrians. This will also stay that way in the future.
