This year, fireworks-free zones are in force in eleven municipalities in our province, which means that you are not allowed to let off fireworks everywhere. This is evident from a tour by the ANP news agency. This concerns, for example, Breda, Den Bosch, Helmond and Boekel.
For example, in Breda it is prohibited to let off fireworks in the city center on both December 31 and January 1. ‘The historic city center is one of the designated zones’, can be read on the municipality’s website. ‘This is to protect the valuable buildings.’ Furthermore, fireworks are also prohibited in part of the Hoge Vucht district. Eighteen cars were set on fire there last New Year’s Eve. The Mobile Unit also had to arrive on site.

There are also fireworks-free zones in Oosterhout, Geertruidenberg, Oirschot, Boxtel, Bergeijk, Vught and Drimmelen. The latter municipality, for example, prohibits shooting in the Biesbosch.
In Den Bosch there are sixteen zoos and petting zoos where fireworks are not allowed in the area. Just like at three healthcare institutions, including the Jeroen Bosch Hospital. Warning signs will be placed at all these places in the city around New Year’s Eve.
Incidentally, in two Brabant municipalities it is completely prohibited to light fireworks. These are Eindhoven and Tilburg. This was also the case last year.
Nationally, there are now nineteen municipalities with a cutting ban. That is three more than last year. This year Utrecht, Alkmaar and Zutphen were added.
