Weddings are back! After two years of Corona and an infinite number of canceled weddings, more couples in love will say yes in 2022 than ever before. Forbes magazine estimates that around 2.6 million couples will walk down the aisle this year – more than at any time in the last 40 years. what will they wear Based on the search and purchase data of Stylight buyers in the period from January 1st to February 22nd, 2022, Stylight has attempted to create an up-to-date trend analysis of bridal fashion and the looks of the wedding guests. Four styles can currently be identified:
Twenties style
The bold looks of the 1920s also took hold of weddings. Casual swags and feathers bring the vintage look to the 2022 wedding season for both brides and guests. Hair accessories like beaded headbands and even veil headbands have also gained interest this year. Pearl headbands saw more than 1,000 percent more clicks on Stylight, and interest in feathers grew more than 200 percent on Google. These wedding looks are reminiscent of icons like Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford. Key styles: beaded headbands, veiled headbands, feathers, slip dresses
Princess Diana style
Diana – the eternal style icon. Stylight traces some of the big wedding trends back to her. For example, Diana’s ruffled wedding dress with extra large puff sleeves. With a modern twist, it represents a key wedding trend of this year. Large puff sleeves are particularly popular with guests. Puff sleeve clicks increased 37 percent on Stylight. A trend that’s relatively new to the wedding scene is square necklines in dresses – and Diana could be the inspiration for that too. She wore this neckline more often. Clicks for square cutouts increased by 28 percent on Stylight. By the way, they also go perfectly with puff sleeves. The Diana look for weddings is rounded off with evening gloves and necklaces – preferably made of rhinestones. Gloves can be transparent and thus make the bride’s look very delicate or make a statement to the guests with prints or strong colors. Interest in evening gloves increased by 22 percent. fairytale
A wedding is only really magical with the right dress. No wonder brides want fairytale robes right away. Stylight notes an increased interest in the romantic style that reminds us of fairytale princesses or woodland nymphs. Tulle dresses, bows, floral appliques and corsets that accentuate the waist and curves are some of the items that have seen an increase in clicks on Stylight. Clicks for corsets/bustiers increased by 225 percent and clicks for tulle dresses increased by 20 percent on Stylight. Search interest in flower applications increased by 250 percent on Google. Unconventional
And that’s what Stylight found out, too: Even before the pandemic, brides were turning their backs on classic weddings and sweeping dresses. This trend has intensified with the increase in micro-weddings due to restrictions. After the crisis, today’s brides continue this trend and look for outfits that emphasize their individuality. The latest aesthetic is thus the unconventional style. While the blazer or suit remains one of the most popular unconventional looks for brides, 2022 is also seeing a resurgence of mini dresses and two-piece ensembles. Modernity prevails in accessories and in particular in jewellery: the choker chain is one of the biggest trends of the year. Clicks for mini dresses were up 28 percent on Stylight, and fitted choker chains were up 20 percent. Search interest for bridal suits increased by 125 percent on Google.
