Saar and Noud are the most popular baby names in Brabant in 2023, the Social Insurance Bank reported on Thursday. Last year, Brabant residents Noah and Emma chose the most, these names are still in the Brabant top ten.
Noud is a newcomer in the top 10 of most popular boys’ names nationally. In Brabant, Noud was already on the list in 2022, in 9th place, but the number of Nouds has only really increased significantly last year. 120 boys were given that name. Noah (117 times) and Luca (107 times) complete the Brabant top 3 of boys’ names.
Among girls, Emma was number 1 in the Brabant top 10 of most popular baby names in 2022. Last year, Saar was the most popular girl’s name. Mila (104 times) and Julia (99 times) are in 2nd and 3rd place among the most popular girls’ names in Brabant.

According to the Social Insurance Bank, Riley was the ‘most gender-neutral name’. It was given to 84 girls and 82 boys and ‘is therefore not tied to a specific gender’. The most gender neutral names after Riley are Sky, Jonne, Charlie, Sasha, Mexx, River, Jaël, Jessy and Skyler.
The Social Insurance Bank emphasizes that these are not the most popular names, but names that are approximately equally common among boys and girls.
Mohammed, Muhammed or Muhammad
The list also shows that Mohammed would be in 2nd place nationally if the different spellings were included. Last year, a total of 721 children were named Mohammed, Mohamed, Mohammad, Mohamad, Muhammed or Muhammad.
