KalPan Patrick Curry got the last laugh in a fiery playoff series against HIFK.
Curry, who suffered a two-game suspension in the middle of the series, returned to the decisive fifth game with the champion’s elbow and tied the game at a critical moment to 1-1 in the final set. Niirala’s monttu was almost torn from its joints by the impact of the golden helmet.
– I will never forget it.
Curry was also on the field when KalPan Juuso Könönen scored the decisive 3–2 goal in overtime.
– This was meant to happen. Everything always happens for a reason, an emotional Curry characterized Niirala’s montu in the booth corridor.
According to Curry, especially last year’s experience in the championship carried KalPa in a tight spot.
– We all believe in each other, and no one is bigger than the other.
Greetings to the SM league
The American point guard was suspended when HIFK took Curry’s actions that happened last weekend to be investigated by the SM League. The SM League itself did not react to the matter on its own initiative.
Did you feel this saga was unfair?
– I don’t necessarily agree with the solution of the SM league. But you know what? I respect the SM league.
– I respect those who make decisions. And that was their decision, Curry replied.
According to Curry, returning from the suspension gave him “one hundred percent” more charge for the fateful match.
– I must have played with a little temper.
However, the anger did not spill over, as Curry’s emotions did not heat up now, unlike at the beginning of the series. In the booth corridor, Curry performed Tyyne calmly, even though emotions were certainly raging.
– It’s hard to keep emotions together, but you have to try to stay reasonable. We think we succeeded in that.
“Shall I go home?”
Curry especially praised his teammates after the thriller, who lifted KalPa from the losing situation to the fifth game and killed Curry’s game-tying game in overtime.
– They were able to bring me back on the field and gave me possibly the last chance to play in this shirt. It means everything to me.
– While I was sitting in the stands, I started to think, “Am I going home?”. This could have been my last game in KalPa, Curry swallowed.
Over has reported that Curry will move to the SM League’s burning Jokers for the next season.
He gave honest praise to HIFK after the fight.
– I want to give them a lot of credit. They fought really hard.
– I think their plan was to get under my skin. And I succeeded in not letting go.
Curry’s games with KalPa continue in the quarterfinals on Sunday. KalPa will face Ilves, a well-known playoff opponent from recent years.
