She is a star herself. Around ten years ago, Therese Johaug had the opportunity to meet celebrities – but she declined.
Ski ranner Therese Johaug has won everything: the Norwegian is four times the Olympic champion and fourteen -fold world champion. She is currently considering whether after her comeback she also wants to start in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo at the Winter Games 2026. The 36-year-old received many offers from sponsors in her career-but not all accepted.
She now reported a certain cancellation to the Norwegian public service broadcasting NRK. Johaug explained that she was offered over ten years ago to drive at the Grand Prix of Monaco and to experience Formula 1 live. She could have spent three days on a luxury yacht. Stars like the actor Leonardo di Caprio should be there.
Johaug now said about the request at the time: “It is crazy that I rejected her. It is almost a bit embarrassing to me.” At the time, her manager spoke of a “unique experience” after the season. But Johaug preferred to spend a training weekend with Marit Bjørgen.
The 45-year-old was also a long run and crowned herself three times the winner at the Olympic Games in Vancouver. She was able to become world champion eighteen times in her career. Johaug now explained that her husband Nils Jakob Hoff was mad at the time because she didn’t go to Monaco. Her manager was also stunned.
Again and again sports sizes drop by at Formula 1 races and are brought close to the action by their sponsors. “Today I understand it,” said Johaug. She also informed NRK that she wanted to decide by May 1st whether she wanted to continue her career again or not.
