Paul McCartney: That is why there could have been no Beatles reunion

An archive text from December 2023. For decades, fans for decades speculate whether and under what circumstances the Beatles could ever have combined in the 1970s, regardless of the fact that John Lennon died in 1980. Now Paul McCartney personally gave an answer to this often discussed question.

Compared to the “Sunday Times”, Macca expressed considerable doubts that a reunion would have been possible. He also emphasized that, as a band, they had made a “conscious decision” at the time to leave their past behind. McCartney also admitted that he was not quite sure.

In addition, the decision at the time was made because the Beatles did not want to spoil their previous work with something that is not as good as their previous material, says McCartney. The 78-year-old also quoted John Lennon, who once said about the band resolution: “We got our friendship back.” Lennon spoke in 1975, five years before his death, about the separation of the Beatles.

“It never got to the point where each of us wanted to do it at the same time”

At the time, he said about reunification: “It never got to the point where each of us wanted to do it at the same time”-a view that the Beatles drummer recently also Ringo rigidconfirmed.
