Minister of Justice Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) still asks 1 billion euros for the ailing Department of Justice, while the government is looking for several billions. But she also has to dare to go against the spirit of the times of increasingly harder repression, writes political journalist Isolde van den Eynde.
