The Meilandjes laugh right in the face of their critics. They set a viewing figure record with their show Chateau Bijstand. “I think it’s terrible, but apparently there is a target audience for it.”

Chateau Bijstand has been on the road for four weeks now. After three times having scored between 1 and 1.1 million viewers, the program received more than 1.1 million viewers (20% market share) on SBS 6 yesterday. A viewing figure record. Critical or not: the program simply serves a target group, analyzes Johan Derksen.

Terrible

Johan himself has nothing to do with it, he recently said in Today Inside. “Those Maidens, huh? I think it’s terrible, I don’t watch it and the whole journalism has tumbled over that new program, but I see in the ratings that a million people like it, so you serve a target group.”

He continues: “That will not be the target group we belong to or want to belong to, but let those people. I also do my very best to like Lubach, but I don’t like it. Then I don’t look, but let him have his way. Also a million people.”

Erica busy

Erica Meiland was busy responding to criticism from viewers during the broadcast yesterday, just like last week. This time, for example, many viewers were annoyed that the Meilandjes do chores to earn some extras. “I could have wished that I had cheese for a job and that the municipality thought it was perfectly fine,” says Sanne.

Erica finds that kind of comment very lame. She then says that this is simply the way it was conceived by the program makers. “That’s just the program format (Don’t make a cent).”

Radar on one

NPO 1 takes gold on prime time with Radar (1.5 million and 26%) and Spoorloos (1.3 million and 25%). This is followed by SBS 6 with Chateau Bijstand and Today Inside (873 thousand and 18%). Only then will RTL 4’s Deferral of Execution (748 thousand and 14%).

Despite his week break, Arjen Lubach continues to rule the late evening. His replacement Raoul Heertje – stand-up comedians are making Arjen’s show this week – attracted 835 thousand viewers (19%).

Viewing figures

Programs that (also) did not make the top fifteen viewing figures include Khalid & Sophie (741 thousand), Hart van Nederland (648 thousand), Nieuwsuur (550 thousand), Tijd voor MAX (546 thousand), Shownieuws (433 thousand) and HLF8 (389 thousand).
