Theobald Lengyel: Mr. Bungle’s ex-saxophonist arrested on suspicion of murder

In the eighties, Theobald Lengyel performed with Mr. Bungle – now he is suspected of murder.

Mr. Bungle’s former saxophonist, Theobald Lengyel, has been arrested. The musician is suspected of murdering his partner, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann.

Herrmann was last seen training her canoe group in Santa Cruz, California, in early December 2023. The following week, her family reported the neuroscientist missing after she failed to board a flight to Hawaii on December 12th. Now police have found human remains in the wooded Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley that appear to point to Hermann. The authorities made no statement about the cause of death. However, the body’s DNA is currently being compared with that of the missing 61-year-old.

Lengyel as the main suspect

Theobald Lengyel was suspected by the police from the beginning of the investigation. Not only was Hermann’s car parked in front of his home in El Cerrito, which borders Tilden Regional Park, he also refused to cooperate in solving the case. On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, the founding member of Mr. Bungle was arrested and taken to a prison in Santa Cruz. There is no possibility of being released on bail.
