The ailing NBA vice champion Daniel Theis returns to the German national team in Munich on Friday evening. It should be decided on Tuesday whether the 30-year-old can play at the European Basketball Championship from Thursday. This was announced by the German Basketball Federation.

Theis (Indiana Pacers) missed the Supercup in Hamburg last weekend due to knee problems. The center from Salzgitter was also absent from the World Cup qualifier on Thursday in Sweden. Theis will be “increasingly burdened in the coming days,” the DBB statement said.

The German team will play against European champions Slovenia on Sunday in Munich (3:00 p.m.) in the dress rehearsal for the European Championship. The duel with the group opponent at the EuroBasket is part of the World Cup qualification. In the opening match of the European Championship in Cologne, the DBB team will face France on Thursday (8:30 p.m.).
