German basketball world champion Daniel Theis has lost an offensive spectacle in the NBA with the New Orleans Pelicans.
In the 126:139 win against the Memphis Grizzlies, even 71 points in the first half were not enough for the Pelicans to win. Center Theis had to be content with four points and four rebounds; the play-off places are already far away.
After a strong second quarter, the guests were still leading 71:62 at halftime thanks to strong shooting percentages from the field. But even four players with 20 points or more weren’t enough in the end: Even without their star player Ja Morant, the Grizzlies turned things up in the second half and scored 22 more points than the Pelicans.
Philadelphia ends negative streak
It was similarly spectacular when the Philadelphia 76ers lost 132:129 against league leaders Cleveland Cavaliers. Paul George and Tyrese Maxey combined for 59 points, ending a seven-game losing streak for the 76ers.
