Thebe Magugu designs for AZ Factory

Thebe Magugu has been announced as ‘Amigo’ from AZ Factory. The South African fashion designer will create one of the next ‘product stories’ for the label, AZ Factory announced on Friday.

“We bring our amigos – talent, partners and customers – together to experiment and try new things. Together with these amigos we create beautiful, fun, practical and solution-oriented fashion that works for everyone.

Magugu is the first fashion designer to design for the label after 44 fashion houses and designers paid tribute to late founder Alber Elbaz with a collaborative collection in October. The South African designer, who won the LVMH Prize in 2019 and was a guest designer at the 100th edition of menswear fair Pitti Uomo last summer, was among the creatives who designed a look for the Love Brings Love collection . The label has not yet announced any further details about the current collaboration with Magugu.

Elbaz, Lanvin’s former creative director, died in April at the age of 59. It was only in January 2021 that he presented AZ Factory, a joint venture with the luxury group Richemont, at Paris Haute Couture Week.
