Pubers only hang on the couch with their phone, wait until the food is on the table. At least: that is what the parents say. And parents only nag about cleaning up the room or coming home too late, says teenagers.
The gap between adult and youth is sometimes life -size. That not only causes a lot of fights and problems at school or on the street. Theatergroep What to do tries to tackle this problem in the multimedia performance ‘The City She Loves Me’.
The three actors, Mees Hilhorst, Urmie Plein and Laurien van Rijswijk, play both adults and young people. “I play from my perspective as an older person, how I think a young person behaves,” says Mees. “It is of course also theater, so we also increase it a bit, it should not be too realistic,” adds Laurien.
