The Amsterdam label’s designs are both wearable and exciting
The final part of fashion label ZENGGI’s SS22 collection consists of two deliveries: the first, which will be launched in March, is inspired by nature. Or, as designer Karen Kämena puts it: “I tried to capture how wind, light, earth and air relate to each other at the beginning of spring. The result is a spherical spring collection full of movement, with fresh fabrics that feel light and airy on the skin and gently drape.
Casual versus slim fit, delivery 3, delivery in March
Part of Delivery 3 can be described as ‘easy casual’, with cotton poplin and technosilk being the most commonly used fabrics. The color palette reflects nature, with soft blues, greens, sand and earth tones. Expect minimalist kaftan and artist blouse shapes that are relaxed, luxurious, and easy to wear thanks to strategically placed pleats and ruffles. Casual garments are juxtaposed with slim-fitting styles in linen lyocell cotton to balance the collection. The print is a direct gesture of a brush on clean fabric (washed poplin). Lightweight sweaters, with or without sleeves, and sophisticated knit t-shirts mixed with organic cotton give the collection both breadth and versatility. As you are used to from ZENGGI, the designs are characterized by beautiful, sophisticated details.
Summer in color and shape, delivery 4, delivery April
For the next delivery, the color palette is summerier, inspired by the direct sunlight of the season. Bright orange-red, lemon yellow and a warm curry color are supported by black and white – colors that go well with suntanned skin. Blooming flowers served as a source of inspiration for the print. The fabrics used are cotton poplin and cotton voile. In this collection you will find, among other things, a shirt dress and a striped dress with irregular tiers as well as kaftan-like dresses. All have pockets and are voluminous, but each dress has a different silhouette. Alongside the dresses, you’ll also find an artist blouse, shorts and a jumpsuit for consistent comfort throughout the day. Singlets made from Supima cotton in all the colors of the collection complete the look.
