Dota 2 Professional Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko caused a huge uproar when he drew a Z-symbol familiar from the Russian military on the game map in the middle of the match.
Moskalenko’s teammate quickly messed up the sign and tried to save the situation, but the damage had already happened. Screenshots of the 18-year-old’s trick immediately spread like wildfire.
Virtus.pro released a video after the incidentin which Moskalenko said it was an injury. The 18-year-old assured him he did not want to offend anyone.
The explanations didn’t go through, and Virtus.pro was thrown out of the tournament where Moskalenko’s art took place. The team considered the penalty very harsh.
Moskalenko’s fate was also tough, as he was in turn thrown out of Virtus.pro.
– The club is terminating the contract with Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko because of his unworthy act, the team was disqualified from the tournament and it caused a huge damage to our reputation in the esports community, the organization reported.
