Blood orange season is here again.
Now you can get them again. Namely, either partially or completely red blood oranges on the inside.
Finns have been charmed by the delicious blood oranges. Kesko’s communications report that blood oranges are a much-anticipated seasonal product, and their sales have gotten off to a good start.
The blood orange season lasts from January to the beginning of March, i.e. a rather short time. It is worth enjoying as much as possible of delicious and vitamin C-rich citrus fruits now that they are available in stores.
Blood oranges are orange varieties with red flesh. They, like all other oranges, need sunshine and warmth to ripen. Unlike other oranges, blood oranges also require cold nights and a cool winter so that the dark color can develop in the skin and flesh of the fruit.
The most important importing countries for blood oranges are Italy and Morocco. However, blood oranges are also cultivated in Spain and California, for example.
The Sicilian Tarocco has been called the best orange variety in the world, because it has a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. As a variety, Moro is more acidic than Tarocco.
Blood oranges make, for example, delicious citrus chicken or pudding.
