Fortnite confirms The Weeknd to launch new game mode Fortnite Festival. From December 9th, players can perform to the songs of their favorite artists – with a band (consisting of fellow gamers) or as a solo act – such as The Weeknd.
“The Weeknd will kick off Season 1 of Fortnite Festival as the game’s first music icon,” reads the press release about the collaboration.
In-game concerts in Fortnite
There have been music in the form of concerts within the Fortnite universe several times. In August, players had the opportunity to see a show by an Ariana Grande avatar, accompanied by real live recordings of the musician. Future bass DJ Marshmallow and Travis Scott also took to the digital stage. Eminem also recently appeared in the game. The rapper could be seen at The Big Bang event.
In the new “Fortnite Festival” concept, however, players should for the first time have the opportunity to stand on the stage themselves instead of just watching.
