After Kanye West canceled his appearance at Coachella 2022 in the Californian desert at short notice, The Weeknd and the Swedish House Mafia jumped in. The Weeknd, who had been booked to headline Coachella four years ago, jumped at the chance to cover some well-known songs by fellow rappers. Among others “Or Nah” by Ty Dolla $ign, “Low Life” by Future and “Crew Love” by Drake, who is bursting with staged masculinity. But a song by Kanye West also made it to Coachella 2022, despite its cancellation: The Weekend performed the track “Hurricane”, which he recorded with West for his album DONDA.

Joint performance with the Swedish House Mafia

Before that, The Weeknd had played some songs from his new album DAWN FM live for the first time. At the end of their 17-song performance, The Weeknd brought the Swedish House Mafia, who performed earlier, on stage for the joint song “Moth To A Flame”. A successful closing. The Weeknd’s entire performance can be found on the festival’s YouTube channel.

Coachella 2022: Comeback after a two-year break

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, Coachella returns with a bang this year. On two consecutive weekends (April 15th – 18th and April 22nd – 24th), the party will take place in the Colorado desert, with Billie Eilish, Girl in Red, Harry Styles and Doja Cat among others. Around 100,000 visitors were expected over the two weekends. They had to dig deep into their pockets for the tickets: the cheapest were around 400 euros.
