The week of Drenthe: Debris on the highway and waste at Drenthe nature lakes

Junk on the road and junk at the Drenthe natural lakes. This and more happened this week in Drenthe.

Natuurmonumenten is fed up with the mess that visitors leave behind at the Drenthe natural lakes, such as the Blauwe Meer near Hoogersmilde. About every ten meters there is a trash can at the Blue Lake, but nevertheless a lot of rubbish remains in the area. Natuurmonumenten announced this week that it will monitor more strictly in nature reserves. If you leave a mess behind, you can be fined 100 euros.

There was also debris on the highways and on the entrances and exits this week. Farmers again protested against the cabinet’s nitrogen plans. They blocked the roads by, among other things, dumping manure and rubble, and in some cases even asbestos. It went wrong in Meppel. A motorist collided with a blockade there on Wednesday. The man has filed a complaint against the waste dumpers. Rijkswaterstaat is having trouble cleaning up the mess. The police are investigating to find the culprits.

But there was also other news this week. For example, the former Burgmeester Tjalmapark in Hoogeveen has been given a new name and there is finally a solution for the shopkeepers in the De Gansehof shopping center in Coevorden.
