The president Javier Milei surprised his followers on social networks with an unusual production video to commemorate the May 25: an animation made with artificial intelligence and blocky aesthetic Lego in which the hero Manuel Belgrano stars in a journey through time from the May Revolution to the present.

The animation begins in the Chapter House of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires, on May 25, 1810, where a Belgrano characterized as a Lego doll writes on a piece of paper the question: “What will Argentina look like in the future?” From there, the hero jumps to the present day and appears in front of a Plaza de Mayo full of people with Argentine flags. In the final sequence, Belgrano joins the balcony with the President and the Secretary General of the Presidency to greet the crowd, in a scene that sought to link the independence process of 1810 with the current political project of the ruling party.

The video concludes with the phrase “Following the path of the heroes”, and Milei accompanied it on her networks with the message “LONG LIVE THE COUNTRY…!!! VLLC!”. The publication generated all kinds of reactions among users: from those who celebrated the originality of the format to those who questioned the relevance of resorting to a playful aesthetic for a date of such historical importance.

After publication, the material quickly went viral and sparked an intense debate on social networks. The use of artificial intelligence for political communication purposes is not new in the Milei government, which had already used images and videos generated by AI on other occasions, but the choice of the Lego aesthetic – associated with the children’s world and games – for a date of the magnitude of May 25 drew attention even among sectors related to the ruling party. The video was published the same day Milei attended the Tedeum at the Metropolitan Cathedral and presided over a Cabinet meeting, on a day also marked by the absence of Vice President Victoria Villarruelexcluded from the act by decision of the Government itself.
