The very last Panne sandwich on the counter, snack bar De Poort is closing permanently

They have been inundated with thank-you and farewell messages for months, now that after thirty years, snack house De Poort is actually coming to an end. Owners Paola and René Stam chose to close themselves, but that doesn’t make it any less emotional. Every month they have something tasty for old-fashioned prices, ending with their specialty: the Panne sandwich. Sunday December 10 is really the very last day.

Very last sandwich Panne – NH

A Mexicano with gypsy sauce, onions, a double fried egg and warm pineapple. These are the ingredients of the famous Panne sandwich. Residents from all over Hoorn-Noord and beyond come to De Poort to get their snacks. Owner Paola: “It really is the tastiest sandwich we have.”

One guest regularly comes to De Poort to get the famous sandwich, but with a variation. “I especially like it with satay and without pineapple. I come here regularly and I only eat it here. It is my favorite,” he says.
