Just a few days ago, the National School of Buenos Aires was at the center of a scandal after the viralization of a video on social networks in which a teacher, who was allegedly identified as Walter Escobar rebukes and threatens a group of student activists from a libertarian group at the exit of the establishment, in an episode that generated strong media repercussions.

Sources from the house of higher education communicated with NOTICIAS and referred to the fact, denying that the teacher who challenges the young people is Escobar. The educational institution shared a statement on its website about what happened stating that a summary investigation would be initiated to determine what happened and if any staff from the establishment were involved.

“Given publicly known events that occurred last Thursday in the vicinity of the National School of Buenos Aires, disseminated through social networks, the authorities decided to initiate an immediate summary investigation to determine possible responsibilities that fall within the responsibility of the institution’s personnel. The CNBA educational community maintains a firm commitment to promoting respectful coexistence, democratic participation and the defense of freedom of expression without restrictions,” the statement highlighted.

In the audiovisual record, a man who was supposedly a teacher rebukes a group of students at the school exit and is heard saying: “When you become an adult, I am going to take down all your teeth,” and when asked by the student about whether it was a threat, he responded: “I am not going to threaten you because you are a minor.” The episode occurred on a public road, in the vicinity of the historic educational institution.

The discussion escalated until it became an aggressive verbal exchange. In another part of the incident, the individual also said: “Go call the police, idiot,” before leaving the scene. In another sequence of the same episode, he is heard warning: “If the new law comes out, I will wait for you here on April 2,” in what was interpreted as an escalation of the verbal conflict.

Regarding the incident, Alejandro Alvarez, Undersecretary of University Policies of the Nation, stated: “As I am informed by the UBA authorities, on whom the National College of Buenos Aires depends, the aggressor will be subjected to summary and separated preventively. We will be following these issues very closely according to the instructions of Minister Sandra Pettovello.” On social networks, journalist Eduardo Feinmann stated: “Very serious. He should be kicked out of school” and sharing Alvarez’s tweet added: “He has to be outside.”
