What’s next for the strange career of the tragic multi-artist Gil Ofarim? After his jungle camp triumph on the RTL show “I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here!” The musician, who released his last album “Alles auf Hope” in 2020, is at a crucial turning point in his career. Ofarim received widespread media presence with his “Camp” appearance. But whether this will result in a sustainable artistic new beginning remains to be seen.
“First and foremost dad”
In interviews and the subsequent RTL+ documentary “The Gil Ofarim Case,” the 42-year-old said about himself in an interview with Frauke Ludowig: “Gil Ofarim is, first and foremost, a dad.”
At the time, he lied to his children about the negative headlines in 2021 in order to protect them. Today they could read it themselves – and understand the implications. “My son was happy and said: ‘Dad, look, you’re everywhere!’” Ofarim remembers a moment at the newspaper stand with many shrill headlines. That’s when he decided to lie to the children. He told them that they were positive stories about his music.
No finished plans
He doesn’t yet know what will happen next. There is neither a “secret deal with RTL” nor a finished music album in the suitcase. “Sure, I have written a lot of music in the last few years. But there is no record that is ready to be produced anywhere. There are also no plans for a documentary or anything like that,” Ofarim is quoted as saying in the weekly magazine “Stern”. “That shows that I didn’t expect to win at all.”
But he would like to be able to work as a musician, actor and voice actor again – like he “did all those years before the crisis”.
Restart in Munich
Financially, the show brought short-term stability: with the fee he could afford an apartment in Munich again and live closer to his children.
As early as August 2025, Ofarim announced a new studio album for 2026 on Instagram, including possible “Unplugged” shows. His comeback concert at the Bochum club Matrix wasn’t sold out – but at least it took place.
After the controversy, it was a signal: the man is venturing back on stage. Whether larger halls can follow at some point depends not least on his artistic moves beyond his long-term role as a scandalous noodle.
