The team champions of the ADAC GT4 Germany 2022

Great success for Dörr Motorsport: With a strong performance, the racing team from Hesse won the ADAC GT4 Germany 2022 team championship, beating 16 other teams. “We were very happy about this title,” explains team manager Robin Dörr.

“Because it’s the result of the entire team and not just a single driver pairing. We’ve been at the start in the ADAC GT4 Germany since 2019 and have been able to improve from year to year. Now we’ve finally won the championship. That makes us proud. “

Dörr Motorsport has clearly put its stamp on the team classification in the 2022 season from the start. The team left each of the six race weekends as the leader of the standings. Already at the start of the season in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben there was a lot of celebration. Phil Dörr in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 secured pole position for Saturday’s race and together with Indy Dontje they won the race ahead of teammates Ben Dörr and Romain Leroux.

“Starting the new season with a one-two was definitely our highlight of the season,” says Robin Dörr. In addition to the two pairings mentioned, Nico Hantke and Simon Connor Primm as well as Juliano Holzem and Sandro Holzem also competed for Dörr Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany.

Dörr Motorsport is a constant

Dörr Motorsport is part of the Dörr Group, which offers super sports cars at five locations in Germany. The racing team was founded in 1999 by Rainer Dörr and Jörg Ullmann. Ullmann was workshop manager at Dörr at the time and is still active in the company today.

“Both are good friends and had the idea of entering a car in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring,” says Robin Dörr, looking back at the beginnings of motorsport. After that, Dörr Motorsport grew steadily. In 2016 he switched to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, in which world and European titles were achieved, before the ADAC GT4 Germany was tackled in 2019.

Since then, Dörr Motorsport has been a constant in the ADAC GT4 Championship. Since the series was founded, the Frankfurters have taken part in all races so far. The sporting record clearly points upwards. After ninth place in the premiere season, fifth place in 2020 and third place in 2021, the title now followed.

“The GT4 platform just appeals to us. We can bring talent from our own Dörr Driving School from karting to car racing. In addition, the GT4 cars are also very attractive to our gentleman customers because they are relatively easy to drive.”

“A very special situation”

Motorsport is a constant theme in the Dörr family. Due to his role as owner of the Dörr Group, father Rainer Dörr also acts as team boss of the racing team. The threads of Dörr Motorsport come together with his eldest son Robin, who as team manager oversees everything operational. “Of course, I regularly coordinate with my father. He also comes to all the races,” says Robin Dörr. “But otherwise he stays in the background in the racing team and leaves the day-to-day business to me.”

Phil and Ben Dörr also contributed to the sporting success. Robin Dörr’s brothers each drove an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and in 2022 they finished second (Ben) and third (Phil) in the drivers’ championship of the ADAC GT4 Germany. “The fact that both of our team are racing drivers is a very special situation. It works really well. As in every family, there are of course differences of opinion from time to time, but we always find solutions,” describes Robin Dörr.

“Phil and Ben had chances for the drivers’ title this year up to the season finale. But we always let them drive freely, so that the faster one was in front. With their performances in the cockpit, they have a large part in the team championship achieved.”

Dörr Motorsport would also like to compete in the ADAC GT4 Germany in 2023. “We feel very comfortable with the ADAC and in the series. The plan is to defend the title next year,” reveals Robin Dörr. “It looks as if we will continue the program to a similar extent as in 2022. The driver talks will have to show how many cars there will be. But we definitely want to be there again.”
