The suspect in multi-million fraud arrested at Eelde airport is a 45-year-old woman from Rijssen

The suspect of multi-million dollar fraud who was arrested at Groningen Airport Eelde on Monday is a 45-year-old woman from Rijssen in Overijssel.

This was announced by the Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam RTV North. The woman is suspected of having committed fraud amounting to 52 million euros. A European arrest warrant had been issued against her from Germany. The Public Prosecution Service will not make any further statements about the content of the case and the suspicion.

The woman was about to travel to Gran Canaria on Monday when she was spotted at Groningen Airport Eelde. This happened during a passport control.

In addition to the 45-year-old woman, a second suspect has been arrested in the fraud case. It concerns a 29-year-old woman from Enschede. She was not arrested at Groningen Airport Eelde, the Public Prosecution Service says.

Both suspects have now been released. They may be extradited to Germany at a later date. According to the Public Prosecution Service, a hearing must be held within sixty to ninety days at the court in Amsterdam, which is responsible for extradition requests.
