The Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) Türkiye, a non -governmental organization to protect workers: Interior rights in the global supply chain, reports in a press release that a number of workers who survived the devastating earthquake in Southeast Turkey and Syria with over 50,000 fatalities , have now finally been compensated by your employer. Thanks to the pressure of unions, the CCC and the Fashion Group Inditex, the workers of the Denim Fabrik Baykan Denim in Malatya in December 2024 and in January 2025 were compensated in full. Other brands that had the company produced and multi-stakeholder initiatives, on the other hand, would not have been sufficiently behind those affected, according to the CCC.
As a result of the earthquake, numerous employees of the denim manufacturer had to leave the completely destroyed region because they could no longer live there. An employer may dismiss employees if they do not come to work. In the event of force majeure – such as an earthquake – companies are obliged to pay a severance payment to the employees.
