The images are shocking: a bottle flies over the head of the new president Javier Milei and ends up wounding one of his guards, while they were on their way to the Pink House, moments after the inauguration. The perpetrator of the attack was identified within a few hours and Judge Ariel Lijo ordered his arrest.
Gaston Mercanzini, as the attacker was identified, had argued with libertarian militants who were in Congress Plaza waiting to see Milei up close and had to be separated by the City police before committing the crime.

Gaston Mercanzini worked in the public sector of Entre Ríos: he was director of Culture in Concepción del Uruguay. A series of scandals, including a complaint for fraud, removed him from his duties. Now he will have to face a case for having tried to attack Milei.
