Things are getting hectic at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo SS24. As usual, visitors attach great importance to their clothing, which is reflected in extraordinary street style looks. Style in Tokyo is often referred to as “Harajuku,” Harajuku referring to a neighborhood in Greater Tokyo best known for its eccentric street style culture. FashionUnited takes you to the streets of Tokyo to show you the best “Harajuku fashion” and the coolest looks from fashion week.
The best looks from Tokyo
With this look in brown and beige tones, the devil is in the details. The combination of a waistcoat with a knot closure and pleated trousers with a leather beret and golden jewelery gives the outfit individuality. Sandals by Gucci and the famous Dior saddle bag for men in olive complete the picture.
A double-breasted Balenciaga jacket with a shawl collar over a mesh tee is worn by this Fashion Week attendee with Heron Preston x Levi’s 501 jeans. To complete the look, he wears zip-up shoes and a small silver chain.
Not only the male guests attract attention with their outfits. This visitor wore a top with an asymmetric print from the GIA brand. She paired it with a pleated and lace-up mini skirt, chunky Grounds 490 Orca sneakers, silver jewelry and a dark denim bag.
This guest wore a black tank top and khaki shorts with flap pockets. He buckled his red belt, which looked like a harness, over the top. The look was rounded off with a Ruslan Baginskiy sailor hat, a white Boyy bag and sneakers from the Nike x Martine Rose collaboration.
A full look by London-based designer Steven Stokey-Daley was also seen on the streets of Tokyo. The floral print long coat, trousers and hat are from the SS Daley Spring/Summer 2023 collection
Instead of the blue so well-known for the sailor’s outfit, this visitor wears a beige dress in a sailor’s look. This is combined with knee socks and loafers from Bass Weejun and a leather bag from Vivienne Westwood.
This minimal look features a raw-edged black vest, white Junya Watanabe MAN t-shirt and chino shorts with artist Basquiat-inspired detailing, and black lace-up oxfords.
A mesh tank with a crochet bead and black crinkled leather shorts, silver jewelry, black socks and cream loafers flashed from behind a large blue bag from the Italian brand Magliano.
From crocheted beads to rhinestones. This visitor is wearing a gray bustier over a white t-shirt and white chiffon skirt. Her beaded gloves make a striking contrast to the chunky sneakers.
A silver jacquard dress from Sister Jane was paired with cycling shorts for this eye-catching look. The outfit was rounded off with a crossbody bag from Lastframe and black Salomon ACS Pro sneakers.
Gucci mania continues to be felt on the streets of Tokyo. This visitor matched her pink dress to her hair color, pairing it with a red and white bamboo handle bag made from snakeskin and beads, a bee ring with beads and red crystals and a brooch, all from the Italian brand.
It is not clear whether these two guests of the Fashion Week have coordinated, but their outfits harmonize wonderfully. While one pairs a black and beige Marc Jacobs monogram t-shirt and white-wash baggy jeans with pink Nike Air Humara LX x Jacquemus sneakers, the other goes for a pink silk taffeta Miu Miu shirt with floral embellishments and a brown Miu Miu skirt with colored striped waistband over white jeans. Accessories included a Gucci clutch bag and brown leather shoes.
This eye-catching look relies on a colorful mix of patterns. The ensemble consists of a faded red hoodie from Drop Dead, a blue tartan skirt, trousers and skirt in Royal Stewart tartan and Demonia brand boots.
A touch of British punk in Tokyo with a Vivienne Westwood Seditionaries ‘only anarchists are pretty’ shirt, black skinny jeans, silver and leather jewelry and TUK Union Jack Creepers.
