There are solid defenders in the Sportschau team for the match day, but also strikers who scored twice after being substituted on.

Goal – Nediljko Labrović (FC Augsburg): FC Augsburg surprisingly picked up a point at Eintracht Frankfurt, and they owe a lot of that to their goalkeeper Nediljko Labrović. The way the Croatian fended off a shot from Jean-Mattéo Bahoya in the second minute of added time when the score was 2-2 was worth being named to the team of the day.

Defense – Chrislain Matsima (FC Augsburg): Anyone facing an attack with Messrs. Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitiké might have had a sleepless night before the game. However, Chrislain Matsima made a very calm and well-rested impression during the away game in Frankfurt. The 22-year-old FC Augsburg central defender did his job rock-solid to well, completed more than 80 percent of his passes and made life difficult for Eintracht’s star strikers.

Defense – Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen): Stable at the back, scorer at the front. National player Jonathan Tah showed an almost flawless performance against FC St. Pauli.

Defense – Nicolas Seiwald (RB Leipzig): To call him a regular player would be an exaggeration. It wouldn’t be accurate to say that he had had a strong phase in the previous weeks. But in RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win, Nicolas Seiwald impressed for over 90 minutes.

Midfield – Jens Stage (Werder Bremen): The best player in the game does not necessarily have to score the only goal in a game. But in this case it was. Jens Stage scored Werder Bremen to a 1-0 away win at VfL Bochum. Strong in duels, technically clean, with a good overview – Stage had a great day.

Midfield – Atakan Karazor (VfB Stuttgart): A goal, an assist, plus important work in midfield against the ball. Atakan Karazor won more than 60 percent of his duels, was stopped five times by a foul and was one of the main factors that helped VfB Stuttgart win after a 0-2 defeat. Defeat against 1. FC Union Berlin won.

Midfield – Jamal Musiala (FC Bayern Munich): It took him five minutes to score his first goal of the matchday after coming on as a substitute for the injured Thomas Müller and thus bring Bayern back to winning ways. When things got exciting again at the end and the league leaders even threatened to lose points, Musiala scored his eighth goal of the season to make it 4-2 against 1. FC Heidenheim.

Midfield – Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen): Wirtz was the difference player on the pitch. As soon as the playmaker from German champions Bayer Leverkusen got the ball, things moved too quickly for the guests from FC St. Pauli. His dribbling before the 1-0 was inimitable.

Attack – Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund): In a game with an astonishingly low technical level, Gittens repeatedly provided the highlights with his speed on the left side. His dribbling was simply too fast and tricky for the Gladbach defenders, which is how the dream goal for the 1-0 lead came about when Gittens misled both Joe Scally and Franck Honorat with a hip wobble and chased the ball under the crossbar. Amazing: Gittens also won 21 duels, by far the most on the pitch.

Attack – Nick Woltemade (VfB Stuttgart): When he came to the second half, it was 1-0 for 1. FC Union Berlin. When he was on the pitch for a few minutes, the “Iron” even led 2-0. When Nick Woltemade had not been on the pitch for a quarter of an hour, the score was 2-2 and the U21 national striker had scored both goals for VfB Stuttgart, who ultimately won.

Attack – Jonas Wind (VfL Wolfsburg): Suddenly VfL Wolfsburg is fifth in the table, just three points away from a place that entitles them to take part in the Champions League. The “Wolves” have now achieved four wins in a row, and the fact that they still got three points against 1. FSV Mainz 05 was mainly due to Jonas Wind. The Dane, who came on as a substitute at half-time, scored in the 84th minute and deep into stoppage time.
