The Spookslot is closing and that did not sit well with Sanne Bakermans from Diessen. She really couldn’t miss the attraction, so she recreated the fairytale castle in miniature. “As a tribute to my favorite attraction.”

Sanne Bakermans first wanted to make a drawing as a tribute, but later she chose to make a miniature of her favorite creepy house. And we succeeded: “After many YouTube videos, patience and a few setbacks”, the Efteling fan says with a laugh.

The castle and the floor stones are made of cutting foam. The tree trunks are made of garden wire and clay. Everything is recreated on a scale of 1 to 87.

“It was very relaxing and really fun to do.”

After three months there was the lock in front of her. The 32-year-old fan is certainly satisfied with her mini-attraction. “It was very relaxing and really fun to do.” Sanne is already at home in the creative world. She is therefore active online under the stage name Brenna Ivy Art.

Sanne has been a fan of the Efteling almost all her life. “I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember,” she says. She was three when she first got there with her mother. “It really feels like coming home there every time. Such a magical place, it just always makes me happy.”

“As a child I read a lot of horror books.”

With her favorite attraction: the Spookslot. “As a child I already read a lot of horror books. For me, the Spookslot was really stepping into another world.”

It was therefore raw on Sanne’s roof when she heard that this attraction is closing. “It was really hard to swallow. I went there three weeks after the announcement to say goodbye. I sat there for a long time against a wall of the lock, also for closure for myself.” For Sanne, the model really feels like a reminder of this favorite place.

The mini version of the Spookslot is now locked up in her home in the display case. The building was ultimately such a success that she already has plans for a new miniature: the castle of Doorn Roosje.
