The singer is Marinella, or her real name Kyriaki Papadopoulou has died at the age of 87. Marinella was one of the most famous artists in Greece. His career began in 1956.

– It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Marinella. He passed away at home today, March 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., the family said in a press release.

During his extensive career, the singer released 66 albums. Her career ended dramatically in 2024. The singing legend was performing in Athens when, during the third song, Marinella collapsed on the performance floor in the middle of everything.

He was transported to the hospital, where it was found that the artist had suffered a stroke. The singer did not fully recover from the illness.

The artist’s funeral was held on Tuesday in Athens. Thousands of mourners had gathered to remember the singer icon. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of the country, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

– You decided to sing your last farewell there. You gave every last drop of your voice on that stage, singer Haris Alexiou stated at the event.

Helena Paparizou, the singer who brought Greece victory in Eurovision, published a touching update in Marinella’s memory.

Marinella’s most famous songs are Anoixe Petra and Stalia Stalia. He was the first representative of Greece in Eurovision in 1974 with a song Krassi, Thalassa ke t’ Agori mu.
