The German teams’ opponents in the round of 16 in the Champions League have been determined. Record champions Bayern have faced a tricky opponent.
FC Bayern has to play against Lazio Rome in the round of 16 of the Champions League. This was the result of the draw on Monday in Nyon. The German record champions thus avoided a hammer draw like Paris Saint-Germain, but also did not face an easy opponent.
Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, had luck. BVB, who managed to win the group against Paris Saint-Germain, will face a viable opponent in PSV Eindhoven and former coach Peter Bosz. However, the emotional situation in Leipzig is likely to be completely different. The Saxons will face 14-time title holders and Spanish record champions Real Madrid in the round of 16. One of the hardest lots.
The round of 16 will take place in the new year. The first legs will take place on February 13th and 14th and on February 20th and 21st, the second legs will take place on March 5th and 6th and on March 12th and 13th. As group winners, both Bayern and BVB will initially compete away. Leipzig has home advantage in the first leg.
