It seems increasingly likely that the Rolling Stones will soon release their new album. Studio album number 25 could ensure a historic tie between them and their eternal competitors and friends The Beatles.
Rolling Stones: Beatles record within reach
With a number one hit, the album would be the Stones’ 15th number one album in the UK. This would put them on a par with the Beatles as the most successful British band in music history. The work, expected in July, could also be her last. It is based on material from the 2023 “Hackney Diamonds” sessions and contains final recordings by drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021.
The album is scheduled to be released in July. After mysterious posters of a band called The Cockroaches in Camden Town and London, The Rolling Stones have now officially confirmed that The Cockroaches are their new music project. A first single is scheduled to be released on Saturday (April 11, 2026).
The code name with a story
The Cockroaches is not a new name – the Stones first used the alias at secret concerts in Toronto in 1977. These shows were later included on the live album Love You Live documented. Since then, the cockroaches have remained largely inactive. A new website for the band appeared with cryptic clues: “Who The Fuck Are The Cockroaches?” – a reference to Ronnie Wood’s iconic shirt that reads “Who The Fuck Is Mick Jagger?” Fans who signed up for updates received a message with a line from the classic Sympathy For The Devil from 1968: “Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name.”
Lengthy creation process
The roots of the album go back to the recordings for Hackney Diamonds (2023) back. At that time the band worked with producer Andrew Watt and produced 23 songs. Only twelve landed Hackney Diamondseleven ended up in the drawer for now. Exactly these eleven tracks should now form the core of the new album. The album is particularly significant due to the participation of drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021.
No big touring plans
There will be no extensive stadium tour. A spokesman for the band confirmed to The Times: “The Rolling Stones will play when they decide to, not before. There are no concerts planned.”
