Argentines have always been attracted to Brazil. The beaches with warm, turquoise waters, the landscapes with hills, the white sand; There are many features that excite and bring to mind the most paradisiacal postcard when thinking about a break. But this year there is an extra factor that ends up tipping the balance: The devaluation of the real and the appreciation of the peso makes travel much more accessiblewith prices even more convenient than those of Argentine beaches (or another variant of local tourism).
With that tempting combo, a new question arises: where to go? It is that beyond the most obvious destinations, such as Rio de Janeiro or FlorianópolisBrazil extends along its coast in a multiplicity of less visited and equally beautiful (and even more) beaches. Below are some recommendations to vary your destination and get a good surprise.
A little bit of the Caribbean
From the travel booking platform Booking.com they notice a considerable increase in searches for the neighboring country. “It is not only positioned for its proximity, landscape diversity and an unmatched cost-benefit ratio, but also because it responds to new ways of traveling,” they detail. And although among the most sought after destinations for this summer are Florianópolis, Bombinhas, Rio de Janeiro, Buzios and Camboriúrather typical places for Argentinians, there are 29% who prefer more private beaches.
Along this path, places such as Japaratinga, in the state of Alagoas and between Maragogi and Porto de Pedras. This former fishing colony stands out for its beaches with calm waters and white sand, almost always deserted. Also because of its proximity to the coral reefs and its natural pools, which can be reached by boat or catamaran and dive with a snorkel to spot the different fish in the area.

Also in the state of Alagoas, Antunes is gaining fame within what is known as “the Brazilian Caribbean”. Its natural pools are due to the low tide and it is possible to get there walking along the sandbanks, but also by kayaking or stand up paddle. Meanwhile, its beaches offer fine sand, palm trees waving in the wind and always turquoise water. If what you want is serenity, it is assured: the local structure is simple, since the area is not very developed yet. With no big bars or restaurants, the magic will be in the local stalls and vendors.
bohemian spirit
When moving away from the big destinations, what many are also looking for is a more bohemian and relaxed spirit. Something that he achieves with flying colors São Miguel do Gostoso, in Rio Grande do Nortea perfect destination for kitesurfing, with constant winds and a relaxed spirit. It is still a small fishing village with barely 10,000 inhabitants, dirt streets and a single church. And although its number of visitors increases year after year, it maintains calm and simplicity thanks to gestures such as not allowing loud music in the bars. The small restaurants offer local cuisine and the square continues to be the meeting point for the townspeople, where it is possible to stop to chat for a while and thus soak up the local culture.

Another highly recommended destination is Ilhabela, in São Paulo. “With more than 40 beaches and hidden waterfalls, this island is a paradise for ecotourism lovers,” they detail from Booking.com. Full of hills and vegetation, given its biological richness, more than 80% of the island is considered a natural reserve, and it is common to see toucans and monkeys jumping from branch to branch. As for the waterfalls, getting to them can be an ideal adventure walk to combine with other days of resting belly up on the beach.
And in the same line of bohemian tranquility it is inscribed Barra Grande, in the state of Bahia. It is a fishing town that combines authenticity and simplicity with dreamlike landscapes. On the Camamú Bay side, it offers a straight beach, with clear sand and warm, calm waters and with seabeds that are usually shallow, which makes it ideal for children. Another of its hits is Lagoa do Cassange, a freshwater lake surrounded by lush vegetation, the perfect program for a day of relaxation.
Islands to know
From Civitatis, the online distribution company of guided tours and activities in Spanish in the main destinations in the world, they also propose another way to enjoy the (yet) not so popular beaches of Brazil: taking excursions to the most fabulous islands.
For example, from Florianópolis they propose reaching the island of Campeche, a paradisiacal natural environment of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The boat tour leaves passengers among high rocks and lush vegetation. Also among coatis they are always ready to steal food or even bags, so it is recommended to be attentive.

And also from Florianópolis, the company proposes an excursion to Guardo do Embaú, a bay in which it is worth taking a dip, having a river, sea and beach in the same place thanks to the Da Madre River, which flows here. This also allows for the picturesque scenery of boats of all colors crossing the waters. The different bars on the beach add their magic, especially at night, when they turn on the lights.
In the surroundings of Salvador de Bahía, meanwhile, a boat trip to the islands of Frades and Itaparica is recommended, which can be reached by crossing the Bay of Todos los Santos. Just six kilometers long and shaped like a 15-point star, Isla de los Frades (that is, Isla de los Frailes) has preserved vegetation, warm waves and slow tides. It also offers hikes that lead to waterfalls and remote hills from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the bay.
For its part, Itaparica presents itself as extremely calm. With calm beaches, with clean and soft sand, its warm water allows you to spend a lot of time submerged. It has 40 kilometers of shore, which offers many combinations of sand and sea, always with shade options under the coconut trees and with very good spots to watch the sunset. Local life happens at a relaxed pace, far from the hustle and bustle and oblivious to the increase in tourism.

Finally, Civitatis recommends visiting the Morro de São Pauloa graceful resort “with white sand beaches, crystal clear and temperate waters, lots of vegetation, pleasant climate all year round and a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.” In addition, the circulation of vehicles is prohibited here, in order to preserve the environment. For this reason, the company proposes a speedboat tour of the islands of the Cairú Archipelago. What to see here? The natural pools of Garupuá and Moreré, among corals and colorful fish, ideal for snorkeling and being dazzled.
A different summer
Just a few hours of flight separate us from the neighboring country, with frequencies that in many cases are daily. And getting away from the crowds, feeling light years from the routine and being surprised by postcard-worthy landscapes are just some of the reasons to visit these less crowded beaches and islands in Brazil. Each one with its unique and unrepeatable beauty will contribute its own argument. The result will be a vacation to remember.
