Pöytyäläinen Myssyfarmi is closing its operations after 20 years. The company informs about this in its press release and starts selling out the stock.
Myssyfarmi became known for bringing clothes knitted from Finnish sheep’s wool to international shopping centers. The company sold them under the Myssy brand.
The products include, among other things, beanies, scarves and hoods.
Myssyfarm’s products were seen, for example, at international fashion weeks and in fashion magazines. The clothes were knitted by “Myssy grandmas”. There were more than a hundred grandmothers at their best.
According to the company’s press release, knitting brought meaningful activities and additional income to many retirees.
– Over the years, we’ve succeeded in almost everything we’ve undertaken, but in the end we couldn’t raise the volume high enough to be profitable. When expenses were adjusted, sales also dropped. In many ways, it seems wrong that when you have been able to build such a significant company, which has been successful in many areas and has a wide social impact, you also have to dismantle it yourself, CEO Anna Rauhansuu says in the announcement.
In the press release, Rauhasuu also criticizes the fact that fashion is not considered a culturally important and significant industry in Finland.
– Our creative competence is at the top of the world, and the industry growth agreement is only waiting for implementation – and funding.
