Anna and Joonas have been renovating their home for more than four years, but it’s not ready yet.
Anna (left) and Joonas decided to demolish the floor of the low basement floor and lower the plinth so that the long-haired Joonas’ head does not hit the ceiling. – A little thing, Anna recalls with amusement what the couple thought. MTV3
Give it and Jonas bought a front-line house built in the 1950s five years ago. The renovation started over four years ago, and it is still not finished.
Actually, the couple has not yet gotten beyond the beginning, when Native the film crew arrives on location. The original idea was that the renovation covering the entire house would be started from the basement, from which we would proceed upwards, but the basement has been blocked.
In the initial situation, a lot has already been done in the basement. There is still a lot to do. – It’s a huge mental burden when we know it’s unfinished, Anna describes on TV. MTV3
Professionals have helped along the way, even though a lot has been done myself. Now the pellets are simply not enough anymore. The sauna, bathroom, toilet and fireplace room that will be added to the basement floor have already been designed around the existing staircase.
Anna hopes that the interior designer Seija Strand and building contractor Vilja Schepelia is no longer needed for interior construction and decoration. The wish does not come true.
– The fear came true, he says in the program.
Joonas and Anna will only show Seija and Vilja their own plan when the renovation of Kotoisa is finished. Seija has chosen the same tiles by chance, albeit in different colors. MTV3
Even though, for example, the places of sewers and technology have already been defined before the program descriptions – and not Native professionals can no longer influence them in any way – there will still be unpleasant surprises. For example, water enters the space from the rock on which the house is built.
– In this destination, we cannot get rid of water completely. We have to walk hand in hand with the water coming from the rock and guide it to the right place, Vilja clarifies and develops solutions where the water does not wet structures that absolutely should not get wet.
Among other things, ventilation must be taken care of and the chimneys renovated.
– These surprises during the renovation have come to cost roughly 10,000–15,000 euros, Vilja estimates the amount that has accumulated from small streams.
Anna and Joonas have already purchased a fireplace, a sofa bed, a toilet seat and a sink. Their places are also already defined in advance. MTV3
It also takes more time than planned.
– Now I have to say that for the first time in my history we are in a situation where I have to call the residents and negotiate about additional days in this project, Vilja admits on TV.
There are six additional days.
– The fact that it moved in the last meters felt a bit bad, Joonas describes.
Joonas’ wish for a sauna is also shattered. He would like the adults in the family to be able to lie down on the rafts.
– Unfortunately, one wish has been destroyed on the first visit, Seija crouches.
– Immediately, Vilja confirms.
– Really. De facto, Seija still ensures.
Sometimes, in interior design and renovation programs, it happens that during the design phase, it is only claimed that some of the residents’ wishes will not be fulfilled. Now it really does.
The sauna will be a completely different color than what Joonas has planned. He originally planned to put a green effect wall made of tiles on the shower wall. MTV3
