The President agreed and adjourned the meeting for 10 minutes.

SATURDAY JULY 30

Guest column: Youp (Boerenmadam) [fragment]

‘Why Maxima said that? Because of the farmers, of course. Speaking of farmers, on Wednesday I saw Caroline van der Plas at Renze Klamer about the riots at Schiphol. He had driven all the way to Amsterdam on the tractor to stand up for the fat millionaires who have been terrorizing our country for weeks now, but was put on her number by Maxim Hartman. Renze tried to calm things down, but Carolientje became paler. Who is also paler, is Henk (Bleker). The pony breeder from Vlagtwedde has been on the talk show table in recent weeks. Maybe next time he can send a note to Maxim with an invitation to an FC Twente match, just like he did then with Mauro. Or Manchester United, of course. This week I saw farmer Ten Hag trying to explain in coal English during a press conference why he bought his entire previous team. That’s humor isn’t it? I wonder if he can stay longer than Boris Johnson. Why do I wonder?’

SATURDAY 6 AUGUST

Cartoon (‘Farmer Protests’)

A drawing of a pig being fattened by a machine. The pig is visibly nauseous. There is a dollar sign on the feeder. It also says ‘AGRO-INDUSTRY’ just to be sure. The machine is operated by a little man who doesn’t look much like Henk Bleker, but it says ‘Henk Bleker’ on his jacket so it’s Henk Bleker. The pig has a farmer’s handkerchief around his neck and his eyes are the stars of the European Union. The pig is marked ‘FARM SECTOR’. The puddle of poo reads ‘NEOLIBERALISM’ and in the poo are small independent farmers floating, almost drowning. On the side there is also a man with a cane for the blind and sunglasses with ‘RUTTE’ on his suit who pinches his nose, but of course also laughs very hard and is looking for the exit (‘EXIT’). Elaborate further.
