The match series between Carolina Hurricanes and NY Rangers followed a familiar pattern in the third match as well.

The home team won that fight too, when the Rangers hit 3-1 on the board and narrowed down the Hurricanes 2-1 lead.

Winning was almost vital for the Rangers, as it would have been almost impossible to turn a series of 0-3 losses. In the history of the NHL, only four teams have succeeded in this.

The absolute hero of the Rangers was the Russian goalkeeper Igor Šestjorkin, who blocked a total of 43 shots and thus fired only one. Šestjorkin was obviously chosen as the number one star of the match.

Mika Zibanejad was the second player in the match, as the Swedish striker hit the opening goal of the match in the first set and baited Chris Kreiderin in the second installment of a 2-0 hit.

Hurricanes’ Nino Niederreiter narrowed it down just over a couple of minutes after Kreider’s goal, but after that Šestjorkin blocked his mouth.

Tyler Motte hit their first goal in the playoffs this spring in 58.37 as Hurricanes sought a draw without a goalkeeper.

Hurricanes’ Finns Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teräväinen and Jesperi Kotkaniemi were left without points. The whole trio was on the frost side in the power statistics.

Despite the loss, Hurricanes goalkeeper Antti Raanta played a valid match, fighting 30 times.
